The VIDEOMONOGRAPHY OF AN ARTIST's review, conceived and directed by LIUBA and started in 2018 with the patronage of the Municipality of Rimini, aims to bring to Rimini, in the summer time, the greatest exponents of contemporary art who use the language of video. The event has an annual anniversary and is structured with one meeting a month, in the summer time.
The desire to organize this exhibition arises following the need to make video art usable - or more generally the artistic practice linked to video - even outside a circuit closely linked to the art world or to galleries and museums, bringing it, instead, in a more familiar and intimate environment, in the headquarters of the Association LIUPIROGI E PAGIOPA of Viserba. The meetings, in fact, will take place on the terrace of the Association, equipped with a panoramic screen of 4.5 meters, located in the house of its founder, the Rimini artist LIUBA.
The format foresees that, on the occasion of each of the appointments, an Italian or foreign artist, with at least 10 years of work behind them, is invited to share their artistic practice with the public, with a particular attention to video works, which will be presented in a TALK held by the artist themself. Each meeting then becomes a moment to take stock of their creation and production, retracing their artistic practice through images and words.
The decision to dedicate this exhibition to artists with an established career behind them intends to give the public the opportunity to deepen the complexity of their research, presenting the stratifications over time, which is fundamental in an era like ours where instead it often reigns the hit and run also in the field of culture and contemporary art.
The informal location aims to facilitate the exchange and dialogue with the artist who will present their work for each appointment, creating an atmosphere of interaction and cordiality, far from the formality of a frontal or academic lecture. And it will be LIUBA to conclude each meeting with a small cameo projecting one of he surprise video works for each meeting, which will dialogue with that of the invited guest, opening a further possible perspective on video art.
