Workshop about visual grammar, image decoding, Contemporary Art.
What is Art? How to read an image? Which ‘laws’ have colors, lines, perspective, materials? What are space and light? What is the visual language grammar? What are the most important artistic movements of our contemporary times and how to read them?
With an approach based on deepening curiosity and fun, we will use of tools such as art history, visual grammar, semiotics of images, psychology of perception. We will try to answer questions, have fun and open our horizons to get closer to Art and to be able to decode contemporary art.
The workshop is structured in 4 meetings, two of them dedicated to learn how to ‘read’ visual images and to semiotics/psicology of art; the last two are committed to Contemporary Art, trying to define a line of development of Art, artists and movements from Avant-guarde till our days.
All the meetings are supported by projections of images and videos.
Programm:
The workshp is structured in 4 meetings over a weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, supported by video projections of images. All meetings will be held outdoors, on the seafront terrace of Liupirogi e Pagiopa.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 23 21.30–23:
What is art - the mechanisms of creation and use - how to listen to the creativity that is in us and that of others - because art serves me - The function of art in society.
Analysis of the elements of the visual language, with examples taken from the history of art and practical experiments on their realization: Color - the line - space - lights and shadows - dynamic lines of the composition
SATURDAY 24 AUGUST 21–23:
Brief introduction to the pre-avant-garde period - Impressionists, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Munch - The invention of photography - The Historical Avant-gardes - Cubism - Futurism - Expressionism - Fauvism - Abstract Art - Dadaism - Duchamp - Surrealism
SUNDAY 25TH AUGUST 21–23:
50s / 60s - Informal - Action Painting - Pop Art - Fluxus - Kinetic and programmed art - Years 70/80 - Body Art and Happening - Transavanguardia - Arte Povera - Land Art - Latest trends - installations - videoart - photography - interactive art - participatory art.
Liuba Picini Pagliarani, aka. LIUBA, was formed in semiotics and art history at the University of Bologna with Umberto Eco and Omar Calabrese. She is an internationally renowned artist with 20 years of exhibitions and performances in various parts of the world, which has allowed her to develop a widespread knowledge of the Italian and foreign art system. He has held artistic and expressive workshops for many years at the Municipality of Bologna, the Municipality of Milan, the beach of Rimini, working with users of different age groups. She has taught history of art and visual grammar to adults at the Masina Open University and Fellini University in Rimini, and in the evening courses of the Institutes Paolo Frisi and Bertarelli in Milan.
