Giacomo Verde: from video art to videoartivismo
Giacomo Verde began working on video art in the early 80s, distinguishing himself with a creative use of low technology but at the same time being capable of designing works with the most advanced machines at the time. During the evening we will try to run across his story from the first works to the most recent ones focused on a political commitment.

GIACOMO VERDE
Giacomo Verde has been involved in theater and visual arts since the 1970s. From the 1980s he has been involved in actions related to the creative use of "poor" technology: video art, techno-performances, theatrical performances, installations, educational workshops. He is the inventor of the "tele-story" - a theatrical performance that combines narration, micro-theater and live macro shooting - a technique also used for live video-backdrops in concerts, poetry recitals and theatrical performances. He is among the first Italians to create works of interactive art and net-art. He has collaborated with various positions as an author, actor, performer, musician, video designer and director. He is currently a professor of film direction at the Academy of Turin and of the Digital Arts Laboratory at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of Roma Tre. He worked with inmates, animated 'Euclid', the interactive virtual character, created alternative "poor" games for the intelligent use of television, founded SeStessiVideo productions, taught to destroy televisions, wrote, polemicized, invented formulas and definitions. Reflecting experimentally experimenting with techno-anthropological mutations in place and creating connections between different artistic genres is his constant.
